Once you’ve chosen your building site and your home plans, it always helps to have an understanding of the building process from the customer’s point of view. These are the major stages of what to expect during construction.

The initial steps in the building process are choosing the building site and deciding on the house plans.
Next, the builder obtains all necessary permitting then breaks ground and sets the foundation.
Once the foundation is completed, the walls and roof system are framed.
Then comes the installation of the roof shingles, windows and exterior (brick or siding).
Now that everything is under roof and "dryed in" in builder speak, all electrical, HVAC and plumbing are completed.
Next comes the installation of the drywall.
Now, doors, moldings and cabinetry are installed and the house is painted during this time.
All faucet and electrical fixtures including outlets and lighting and floor coverings are installed. Also, the yard and landscaping is usually begun at this time.
Upon final inspection, the home is ready to move-in.
